Repetitive words

Is there any way of encouraging my DS to not say the same word over and over again? He is 2 so I always encourage his speech but he also does this thing which is just infuriating where he gets so repetitive and says the same thing over and over and over again for long periods of time. It could be what he wants to watch on tv, or an idea he's got in his head, or something he wants to eat but he will just say it over and over. I try and acknowledge what he's saying or explain yes you can do that later or it's not possible because if x y and z but he just continues saying it again and again and then it can escalate to him crying and shouting it. It sounds such a little thing but honestly the sound of him saying the same thing over again is just becoming such a trigger for me getting so frustrated and angry.
