My daughter is 14 weeks old, she recently had some tests for slow weight gain and her urine tested positive for CMV virus. Paediatrician rang me on Sunday evening (scared the shit out of me) and said that if it was contracted after birth it’s usually fine? I was reading about it and it says that in some cases in can cause pneumonia, brain damage, hearing or eyesight loss and small head. I am very anxious now that she may be in a small percentage of babies that are affected.
I’m just looking for some reassurance, are there any mums with babies that had CMV and are fine?
