Gift for 9 yr old boy - totally clueless!

We’re finally getting married in a few weeks (third time lucky) and I’d like to get a gift for our ringbearer, who is 9. But I have no idea what children like these days, especially boys! Can anyway point me in the right direction?

Willing to spend around £30. Don’t want anything sentimental (no cuff links etc) as I want it to be a present that brings him joy, not us. Brownie points if he can play with it on the day, but not essential. He’s really outdoorsy, football mad and likes his games etc.

Tried asking his parents and grandparents but not really got much of a response (not criticising, everyone is busy with the wedding, but just saying it’s not a solution and I’m hoping you lovely people can help instead!). Ta.

To play with on the day: fiddle toys (pop-it), or Lego
Outdoorsy: swingball? Pop up goal?

Lego or ThinkFun have various board games you can play- some are travel sized. My 9 year old also likes stationery.

If the idea is to help him enjoy the day, rather than commemorate it, a Christmas stocking approach, with various little gifts, might be a plan. Quiz cards or Top Trumps
Football sticker book
Solo football trainer
Disposable camera
Snacks
Joke book

Something he can do on his own and at a table - Boggle, Shut the Box (travel size) or solitaire.

If he'll have a device to play with on the day I.e. ipad etc, I'd get him robux to spend on roblox if he plays that, ask his parents.
£30 gets you loads of robux and he'll probably be delighted!
Definitely check with parents first though.

The “we print balls” website has a sale on personalised footballs - maybe that would be nice with his name on & money left over for something else too

If you want something to keep him occupied during the speeches you could look at the "rush hour game"

The new premier league or champions league football, they are £30, can be used oh the day and if into football you can never have too many.

A disposable camera would be great for a wedding gift.

These are brilliant ideas, thanks so much! Never heard of the fiddle toys but now I’ve google them it seems they’re taking the world by storm. And he loves joke books. The football and the robux things sound great too.
