Hi, my son is 3.5 years old and is a sensitive little boy and has speech delay, which means he struggles to communicate and make new friends.

He's been attending a great preschool for the past year and got very close to a girl in his class who became his best friend and loved him equally.

Now he's in he's final year before school he's been put in a different class without his friend and is very upset and doesn't understand why he can't be with her.

He's a bit behind with his learning and speech whereas the other child is quite advanced so I understand why they are in separate groups, but I hate seeing him so unhappy. He came home and said 'no one played with him and where was his friend?' , (I explained shes in another class).
I'm going to email the preschool to see if they can help him adjust but I'd appreciate any advice and experience other parents may had had on this. It breaks my heart.

Poor little love. I think that talking to his key worker is a good idea, they might already be helping him to adjust.

Is he having any SLT at the moment?
