Should we move out of London?

I have the chance to move to the North West (Altrincham area) with work. This would mean moving within 30 mins of my family but away from many of our friends. I want to do what’s best from my DC who is 1, but not sure what that is. I’m also nervous about getting out of the London property market in case we one day want to come back. DP would prefer to stay but would go with the flow and is a SAHD so is not tied by work. Would you do it? Have you done it, and would you recommend it? I’d appreciate the perspective of others as it’s hard to see the wood for the trees.

Hi, I'm looking to move to Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire with my husband and three year old. I'm originally from Wales and I've lived in central London for the last 15 years. I don't really want to leave London but we can't afford a house in our area. I want the M1 and M40 to be conveniently close so that I can drive to Wales quickly if needed with an ageing mum so I was wondering if anyone can recommend family friendly areas to consider. Ideally, I want 30 mins or less to London, good schools for my daughter, but not too rural. I'm going to miss the London vibe so somewhere that still feels like London would be amazing but I appreciate difficult. Anyway, I just wanted to see if anyone can recommend areas I can look into. Many thanks in advance

Yes to leaving London, but Altrincham is a bit strong isn't it..? Could you maybe not go to a commuter town to London rather than a commuter town to Manchester?

Reminds me of Eastenders when people either lived in The Square or moved to Manchester. Nights out were either The Vic or Up West Grin. I'm showing my age here probably Blush

Oh pants, it's a zombie thread!

@itstime123, could you make your own thread ? You'll get better responses that way Smile

I don't know Hertfordshire but Marlow in Buckinghamshire is lovely. Or there's Henley in Oxfordshire or cheaper if you go to Berkshire (Reading and surrounding towns and villages can be quite nice and not too £££,)
