Not planning to start baby's childcare til they're one. but can i open the account as soon as they are born. I know there's a max of 10k a year or something but is that max into the account or max out. e.g. can i start putting it in early and then pay out more than 10k to childcare in a year.

I think you can only open the account 1 month before you go back to work, as I looked at doing the same thing! I think you put in up to £8k a year and it will be topped up to £10k by the government (so max £2k given), but I think it’s limited to £500 per quarter given out - so in 3 months you can put in £2k and they’ll top up £500 but no more.
