My partner and I are expecting (I'm only 16wks atm).
Partner has 6yo daughter (sorry - new, don't know the acronyms). Terrible relationship with ex (mother) with alienation & manipulation being clearly used on daughter.
Daughter believes that you can only have enough love for one person as been told by her mum this. Said something along the lines of 'mummy said she loves me so much she couldn't love anyone else'. When her dad told her he 'loves her with all his heart' she says he can't because of me.
Daughter constantly insists I must love one cat more than another...
With a new baby on the way I know she will feel her daddy cannot love her and new baby.
Her mother has previously said that when her parents had more children it 'ruined her life' and I have no doubt she will make her daughter fully aware of how having siblings 'traumatised' her and 'ruined her life'.
I'm looking for resources (books, films, TV....anything really!) To help her believe that she will still be loved when we tell her about impending sibling. In fact any advice will be very helpful!
