Understanding Reflux and treatments

I'm looking to get help understanding more about reflux in babies and how the treatments work?

My LO is coming up to 11 weeks old and is being treated for reflux symptoms with Gaviscon. How I understand how Gaviscon works, it's supposed to prevent backup of acid from the stomach into the oesophagus and prevent the spit-up of milk. Please correct me if I am wrong!

We have been treating my LO with this for about 2/3 weeks now.

I wanted to know from other parents whose LO have been on it, did your LO still cry from reflux symptoms? I'm curious because my LO does still experience symptoms but is not crying all day as they use to. It seems the Gaviscon has calmed the symptoms to crying during and after feed up to an hour and times where he hasn't cried.

I'm also curious if other treatments are better for my LO - I've read they can be prescribed like a thickener for the formula or like an anti-acid?

If baby is still unsettled I'd go back to the GP and ask to be put on omaprezole. My little boy went on it at 4 weeks old and settled within a couple of days. We also tried gaviscon first but it didn't work for him.
