Hi all my 6 month daughter recently rejected the boob so is now formula fed and we are weaning. I was abit sad as hadn't really chosen to stop..seems shemade that decision and is happy...if she's happy I'm happy!! .I'm still expressing but only once a day and only get about 50ml total from half an hour pumping. Is this worth it or is it not enough to have any benefit? I'm not really up for upping my milk supply and pumping all through the day...its so time consuming!!thanks

Once down to expressing once a day it’s probably your supply. Mine slowed and I stopped shortly after. If you don’t want to increase, it might be time to stop. That’s your choice though.

Well done on getting to 6 months. That’s a hard slog, so don’t be sad to stop if you’re both ready.

I’m sure I saw on a breastfeeding page that 50ml ish a day still had benefits for the immune system (probably one of the IBCLCs I follow on Facebook either Lucy Ruddle or Lucy Webber) so if you’re happy doing it you’re not wasting your time but it’s up to you as I know pumping can be really difficult to keep up. If you’re finding it a struggle there’s no shame in stopping.

6 months is a lot longer than many people manage so you’ve done really well to get this far!

Thanks guys! I've actually stopped now as it was just taking soooo long and the amount was going down. It was time! Thanks for the nice words there's so much pressure on people to keep going its nice to hear a well done!
