Baby smiles?

So my 8 week old still doesn’t seem to be smiling. She makes good eye contact babbles away when I look at her. Sometimes I think she’s smiling it’s not a big gummy grim but the corners of her mouth do turn up as if to smile. I know potentially it can take up to 12 weeks and I shouldn’t worry. Just wondering when your little ones smiled?

Also to note she is a reflux baby so again I know this can delay smiling as god love her she’s not had much to smile about! But reflux has significantly improved over last 7-10 days.

Hi @Hickpusher

My DD was desperate to talk and smile and her first smile was at about 2 months old. My DS was about 3 months. It's so hard waiting sometimes isn't it! They both smiled in their sleep tho and I found it so cute 😍

@Ess1981 yes so hard 😩 I don’t want to rush her I know she’ll smile in her own time but she’s 8 weeks and her first 7 have been pretty rubbish with the reflux so I’m just desperate for her to smile more so for reassurance that she’s a happy baby. She does look desperate to talk though!

Aw bless her, I'm glad the reflux has started to improve 😊 she'll smile when she's ready (and talk for years on end if she's like my DD 😁 ) hugs 💐

My baby is 9 weeks and has only just started properly smiling this week. I was getting very worried - she is also a refluxy baby in addition to being born at 38 weeks and spending 2 weeks in the neonatal unit. HV said not to worry until 10-12 weeks - i should have trusted her advice more rather than spending the last 4 weeks stressing myself out about it!

@GuidingSpirit that’s reassuring it’s hard not to worry isn’t it! My LO was born at 39 + 4 so similar age. Hopefully she’ll get there in the next week or so! I know a lot can happen in 2-4 weeks at this age 🤞🏼
