You have no idea what could be behind this.

Mum is too busy chatting to her friend to deal with her daughter. She should be encouraging her to play in one of the only lovely days we've had this summer.

Btw, I've been in the playground for a long time, this child is a perfectly normal and lovely girl.

Alright Judge Judy

ivfbabymomma1 · 25/08/2021 15:56

There's nothing worse than judging another parent when you don't know the full story!

grey12 · 25/08/2021 15:57

@Wagglerock

Alright Judge Judy
"But....." already implied I WAS judging something Wink

I think you should probably wind your neck in and pay attention to your own, perfectly parented child.

MirandaWest · 25/08/2021 15:59

She’s had some screen time, she’s had some time playing in the playground. Does it affect you?

grey12 · 25/08/2021 16:05

My kids sometimes have a sh*t load of screentime. But in the park I tell them to go and play

My dc have been out to shops for school shoes today but spent the rest of the day inside watching tv - we spent a day at the beach yesterday. Sometimes a parent wants a catch up with a friend and a dc not to bother them. That is fine imo.

Streamingbannersofdawn · 25/08/2021 16:13

What a nasty post.

Its a nice day and my son is flat out in front of a screen now....mind you he was at the climbing wall all morning.

You have no idea what's going on there.

Wind your neck in.

It's not your place to draw the line.

grey12 · 25/08/2021 16:34

@yourestandingonmyneck everyone draws the line somewhere, even you

It hasn't been lovely and sunny here for the past 6 weeks. It has been raining nearly every day. It has been the worst summer ever!

The parent can chat to her friend all she likes and still kick her child's butt (metaphorically) to go and play. Kids HAVE TO to play outdoors for their health. Indoors they can watch tv/phone/pad/wtv to their hearts' content

It's not always that easy though is it?

What’s the difference between a child off playing while you sit in peace or a child playing on a phone while you sit in peace? Maybe she doesn’t want to play while a particular piece of equipment is busy, maybe she just doesn’t want to be there at all. Mind your own, Super Mum. You’re on MN while your kids are playing.

Maybe she’s been to the park every day this week. Maybe she needed some quiet time away from other kids in the playground. Not all kids like to be around other children running about making noise.

CoffeeTopUp · 25/08/2021 16:43

Maybe while you’re at home letting your kids play on/ watch screens the girl’s mum is reading with her child, doing craft with her, or she’s playing in the garden.

(Not judging screen time at all - mine have loads - just encouraging you to think about being so bloody judgy.)

Arrowheart · 25/08/2021 16:58

You, OP, are the worst. Why don't you crack on with your parenting and fuck off with the public forum judgment. Make judgement in your own head but is there any need to announce it all over here? What exactly are you wanting to get out of your post??? Have a think about that.

idontlikealdi · 25/08/2021 17:02

Presumably you are on your screen and not engaging with your child op?

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 25/08/2021 17:06

I have no idea why you think this is any of your business in the first place. To then go and start a thread on MN about it too?!! I hope you don't live anywhere near me or go to the same playground.

grey12 · 25/08/2021 18:21

I stand by what I said.

Your kids are outdoors in a kid's playground in a sunny day: tell them that there is no phone and that they can go and play! It's perfectly fine to tell them no sometimes

OP posts:
Somethingsnappy · 25/08/2021 18:25

Some children don't like running around in the heat, OP. My children are much more inclined to run around in the wind and rain than the sun. But hey, we're all different. Iwould have thought you're old enough to have learned that little life lesson by now.

If your children get a 'shit load of screen time', chances are that child you saw gets more healthy fresh air than yours.
