Anyone else have a baby with recurring illness?

My 18 mo daughter has recurring wheeze episodes. She has medication but since feb we have been in hospital with it roughly every other month and it’s likely to continue until she grows out of it.

Me and my partner both work full time and keep having to take time off for hospital trips. Our companies have been understanding so far but if it goes on for years I’m not sure they would be.

Has anyone had anything similar? How did you cope with work?

Hi,

I hope it got better for you.

Did you get to the bottom of this? I have literally just joined Mumsnet to ask the same question. We are currently going through this now. My daughter has been in and out of hospital since August with recurrent breathing problems

Yes it did!! I’m sorry to hear that for you, such a worrying time.

They just diagnosed her with “wheeze” and thankfully after this post they finally gave me the brown inhaler alongside the blue inhaler and it made such a difference. Every virus or cold she got it went to her chest but the inhalers meant we avoided anymore trips to hospital. She’s growing out of it slowly. We don’t use the inhalers at all until she’s ill and sounds a bit wheezy but to be honest it’s probably overkill and I don’t need to now.

Id recommend fighting for both inhalers and a wheeze plan so you can tackle it going forward xx

Thank you for replying so quickly. That's really good news about your daughter and gives me hope. Hopefully my girl will be out of hospital in a day or 2 and we will be pushing for a preventative course of action. It is so sad having to disrupt her life (and ours) with hospital so much x
