As context baby has started weaning and has had a change in formula in the past month due to suspected CMPA. They are combi fed. Baby used to go more than once a day so this is different for us, appreciate some bf babies don't go for much longer periods. Worried FTM.

I was told if it got to 5 days to speak to a GP

We were in similar predicament with our DD when weaning. We found that 1/2 a pureed ripe pear and a bit of a tummy massage worked wonders.

My DS got constipated when weaning, 5 days was the longest he went, pouches of prune purée used to do the trick. That first poo was something else! Try some prunes/pears, plenty of sips of water and if nothing in a day or so I would contact gp and they can prescribe movicol to help x

Are they drinking enough fluids? That’s absolutely important.

Try lots of fluids and prunes for one more day and then go to GP. You do not want this to become a long term thing. If they hurt themselves doing a hard poo, it can cause them to withhold and that becomes a bloody nightmare.

Thanks everyone. As an update I was greeted at 5am with an absolute mega poo that required a quick bath as it went absolutely everywhere! Didn't seem to strain though as it came out so maybe little one wasn't ready to pass it. This is the second time this has happened since weaning began hopefully things will settle down. TMI but so strange you can tell the different meals coming out!!!

It should settle down, my DS was in an every 4 days routine when we started weaning (had been multiple poos a day when just having milk) it was a nightmare because they were always massive and required a full change. The first few I was actually horrified! But he settled down and now goes once a day with a nice normal sized poo! But yes it is so weird when you’re like oh yes there’s the sweet potato…there’s the banana
