Candles

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge or advice on the following!

I’ve always liked scented candles. I don’t burn them everyday and when I do it’s only for a couple of hours at a time. For example, if I’m relaxing on a Friday night (!) with a glass of wine, I enjoy having a candle lit too.

I read things and heard things from people that scented candles can be dangerous for small babies (not the fire hazard risk but the toxins they can produce). So since finding out I was pregnant, I haven’t lit any candles. My little one is now nine months and I’m wondering if it would be safe to light the odd candle now and then when he’s in bed (again not the fire hazard risk but any potential harmful things in the air). A lovely friend has gifted me some lovely soy wax melts and soy wax tea lights to melt them with and I would love to start using them.

I’m probably worrying too many people mentioned scented candles to me that it got me thinking!

Thanks 😊

I wouldn’t think twice about lighting them if he’s not in the same room. Especially as your house is likely to be getting good ventilation in this weather. I’ve always had them in the bathroom, even when they were newborns, because I knew that the extractor fan would get rid of any toxins, if there is any truth to that.
