Hi All

My first was born on the 10th centile, I remember the midwife saying so long as he followed that and didn’t drop he was all good.

By around 12 months he was on the 50th centile but I’ve just weighed him at 18 months and he’s on the 40th. He’s now walking and is fussier with his food, so my question is, is it normal for toddlers to ebb and flow? I understand that at this age they take into consideration height as well, but I’m curious if this drop is considered normal.

He’s 10.6 kg.

Yes its normal. If he drops massively (like from the 50th to the 10th) then it might be a concern but a little up and down is normal.

I think on the "charts" inside their baby book the health visitor start to get concerned if they cross two of the black lines. Have a look on the graph and you will probably see what I mean.

Also if he is gaining weight or staying the same weight that's not a problem, but it could be a concern if he has lost weight
