Worried about my 1 year olds development. Early signs of Autism?

Hello everyone the subject pretty much explains everything. I am very very worried about my LO's development in particular his communication. He literally has no words, no clapping (he did used to clap when we asked but seems to have forgotten), not waving etc.

He doesn't seem to be alert and is very, very, quiet that you can forget he's in the room. My other children were not like this and definitely had words (I've even watched videos back of them being so vocal). My health visitor is aware and has referred him for a hearing test though I know he hears as he immediately turns when we start singing nursery rhymes to him.

I guess I am wondering if anyone who has children on the spectrum or who have gone through this are able to tell me if they knew by this age? and if they went on to develop autism? What other signs were there and/or if there were similar signs but didn't develop it. Sorry if I am not making sense. I would just like some honest advice. Thank you

I can’t really advise on the autism worry as my DD is only 15 months old but I just wanted to say my DD had no words at 1, she wasn’t even babbling (not pulling to stand/cruising either). About 6 days after she turned 1, she started babbling like crazy, pulling to stand, cruising etc. She did clap and wave at 7.5 months but stopped for a short time to learn other skills. At 15 months she has around 10 words (although not very clear and random when she uses them). I was also worried.

Anyway, what I’m trying to say is he might just be taking his time like my DD. How are his motor skills?

I wouldn’t worry about no words before 1. My DS (second child) only started saying words some time after 18 months. He’s 2y 1m now abs talking really well. I know it’s easier said than done not to worry, because I was worried about it constantly, but with hindsight I know I shouldn’t have been concerned.

@Vicky1989x Thank you for your message and I am so glad to hear your daughter is progressing well. Did she show understanding? Did she play with you? or bring toys to you? I know I should try to relax and not worry but I can't help but feel like something isn't right. My main concerns are that He doesn't really babble and has no words.
He is super quiet you wouldn't even know he was in the room.
He isn't waving, he was clapping but stopped etc.
He doesn't reach out to be picked up instead hand flaps. He also does this when he is excited or seems to be upset.
He rarely cries not even for milk or food or if he needs a nappy change and has been a complete non fuss baby from the beginning.

@MikeWozniaksMohawk Thank you and I am trying really hard not worry, honest. But having two other children who did not do anything like this it has become a big worry for me. I know children can sometimes become delayed with certain things but I feel like he seems to be delayed only with his communication and social skills. Did your son have understanding? How was his play with toys? Was he gesturing? like clapping, waving
