Almost 3 year old refusing to sleep until 10pm

My DD (3 in a month) has always gone to bed late despite us constantly trying to get her down earlier. She goes to nursery and takes a 1.5-2 hour nap at nursery. With us, even when we stop her napping she still sleeps at 10pm. She gets up at 7:45. She's v energetic and boisterous. We try to tire her out with exhausting activities to no avail. We're so tired. I want some time in the evenings to spend with my husband. We don't get any time together without DD. We've asked nursery to stop the naps but they aren't keen. What can we do? She's a night owl. Help!

Stop the nap. My dd was like this, took a while to settle but fine now.

I read another thread where a nursery were refusing to cut a child’s nap. The idea that they think they can override parents is mad! I think you need to tell them that your DD doesn’t have a nap anymore.

Having said that… if she doesn’t sleep any earlier if she doesn’t nap, then that sounds like it wouldn’t really help. Could you take some time off and keep her off nursery and cut the nap for a week or so and see if her routine changes? If it does, and she starts to have an earlier bed, then you tell nursery no more naps. If she doesn’t and just ends up tired, then nursery can carry on as they are.
