OK so maybe I'm being a big wimp but I have a really bad chest infection, temperature etc and really struggling to keep up with 11 month old DD, who is in recovery from same virus but has her energy back. I just want to crawl into bed for the rest of the weekend. How do others cope when you're under the weather and they're not? I can't take her anywhere because I wouldn't want to pass on my germs to other LO's so feel housebound. Any suggestions on how to keep her entertained for any length of time without having to run around after her?

we have a tv in our bedroom and we'd lay in bed together watching kids tv... ohh and shut the door to keep her in one place..

does she like the bath?

could you do that? together?

otherwise I'd take a pile of toys and books into your bed and let her play while you ignore her as much as possible,,,I had tonsillitus when dd was about 10 months and we did this successfully for the best part of 2 days. Bliss!

Had a similar experience this week, althought think I was just very run down and exhausted no real illness. Anyhow. CBeebies featured heavily on our agenda.

Do you have a DP/DH who will be home later to take some of the burden off?

Treasure basket?

beanstalk · 30/11/2007 15:39

Thanks for your replies! DP works late so won't be home until after she's gone to bed, but I have made it this far into the day, just breaking the day into chunks now so only have to think...got to get through until teatime, etc. I have exhausted objects in the house for a treasure basket, so not an option for this afternoon I'm afraid! Still my door keys and Tweenies are distracting her for now. I feel guilty but really not much choice! DP will take her out tomorrow so she'll get some proper attention then.

The one and only thing I don't like about being a parent is not being able to stop when you're ill! I resorted to CBeebies as well recently while ill, having not really allowed 2 yr old DD to watch TV before. She's got the taste for it now though!
