Can he learn to like a sling?

Thanks to all the help on my other thread, I've now got a sling I can put on myself and get 10 w/o DS in on my own. But...he hates it. He has never really liked being cuddled on my chest, and he really builds up a head of steam if I try him in the sling.

I have been trying to do about 5 minutes at a time, not even every day, to see if he'd get used to it. Does that ever work? I'd love him to enjoy the sling as it would mean I could actually get out of the house for a walk!

It's highly likely baby isn't comfortable for whatever reason and I would work on this. Two main things would be fit and clothing. Fit-is baby high enough to kiss, not slumped at all, legs in an m position, back in a j position? You can get along to a sling library for a fit check. Clothing, are his toes being pulled on? Is he too hot (it can get quite warm in a sling). My sling consultant said she's never known a baby to not like being worn and close to a parent when these things are right.

Which sling did you go for? I had two different sorts. A close caboo ( for when DD was younger) and now have an ergo baby 360. I find now that DD is 6 months old she doesn't want to sleep in the sling and would rather be looking around and is very wriggly out walking. Maybe give it time as he may enjoy it more once a bit bigger and can be front facing? ( they have to have good neck strength for that, so not suggesting it for a 10 week old!) xx

@Capuchini we've got a Koala cuddle band, which is similar to the close caboo. I suspect you're right - he'll probably enjoy it more when he's bigger and forward facing but it's frustrating for me!

@Perfect28 you may be right about his comfort. My local sling library has been shut due to Covid but I've heard may be running remote sessions. Now that I've got a sling I'm happy with, I may try to arrange a session.

Thanks to you both Smile
