Bed guard- yay or nay?

I will soon be moving my almost 3 year old (3 in a few weeks) from a cot to a single bed. What are your opinions on bed guards? Any alternatives which you'd recommend? Thanks.

We use one, my DD fell out & woke up screaming every night for about 10 days straight .. no thanks. So now she has one in the middle of her bed so she can get out either end but can’t roll out. And we all get a full nights sleep again. I figure she’ll just become a less wriggly sleeper as she gets older, I’m really not that worried about it! We just have one from Argos, nothing fancy!
