Clingy moany toddler with mom - help please :)

Hi all,

I am sure this is very common and we are just not handling it properly, so any help would be very much appreciated.

Our son is 2y8m. When with others - grandparents, babysitter, childminder - he's very well-behaved and a joy to be around. As soon as he's with mom, he becomes completely unbearable: clingy, moany, wants something, then doesn't want it, pulls her, drags her, whines, etc. She gives him her absolute best and tries everything to keep her cool, but at some point - understandably - she simply cannot take it anymore and gets really depressed. She's tried being nice and playing with him, she's tried being strict - neither works.

When he's with dad, all is well. In case it helps, he's got an older sister (nearly 8).

Of course we know this too shall pass, but it's at the point where mom is driven mad every day, and that's been going on for months. Any tactics for mom or what else dad can do when with him would really help!

Thank you very much!
