Little Lamb nappies....Very hard after drying.

I have the little lamb cotton nappies and they are wonderful in every way, except they seem to be quite hard (and kinda crisy, IYSWIM) after they have been dried.
I wash and dry them as the care instuctions say to. They go on a clothes horse around a radiator, so not on direct heat.
I have tried using extra fabric conditioner but it doesn't seem to make it any better. I have tried using soapnuts in the wash also, and although they seem a little better, not loads, and still very hard.

Does anyone know what I can do to get them soft again?

AHHHRGH

you use FABRIC CONDITIONER on your nappies???? STOP!!!!!

never ever ever use fab cond on nappies- it stops them being absorbant, leaves a layer of waxy crap on the fibres and contributes to nappy rash and sometimes thrush!

vinegar- now thats the best way of softening nappies- or hanging them out int he rain, then a blast in the tumble drier will soften them brilliantly

OMG, Preggersagain, I didn't know!! Thanks for that.

I read the care instuctions once and now I cant find what "I have done with them, probably put them somewhere safe and now I have forgotten.

Well, luckily she doesn't have nappy rash, so I will stop using the fabric conditioner.

Vinegar.........really............Where do I put it? in the fabric conditioner drawer??

yep use vinegar INSTEAD of fab cond- you need to do a fair few washes to get rid of any build up though as it will affect the absorbancy- give flame a call and she will explain in more detail- i've got baby brain and a having difficulty remembering my own name!
