Baby took a bottle and I cried

Just that really. Noticed the beginnings of what I think is PND, two kids 18 months apart is driving me a bit loopy.

I send DH off with both kids and DS (4 months and exclusively breastfed) had a bottle for the first time. He absolutely guzzled it down no questions asked and I feel like a massive weight has just been lifted. Sat here sobbing my heart out for some reason. My eldest never took a bottle so I didn't really have high hopes and I'm so surprised!

Anyone else's take to it so easily?

My DD was like that and I remember feeling really sad watching her have the the first one but also I think it saved my sanity a bit too

hugs.
crying because of relief is good tears though.

yeah, all of mine were fine with a bottle, some needed it on day 5 so I bottle battles are alien to me.

@Wjevtvha yep, I have that feeling. Really stupidly my brain is telling me I've failed him but I know I haven't and that it's the best for both of us!

My first would take a bottle of expressed milk no issues, it's was a bit of a shock to the system when dc 2 came along and flatly refused the bottle! 10 months in and I'm still ebf and I do wish I had the bottle as an option so I could have a break now and then but I've given up trying now! Glad your lo has taken to it and you can have a break.

CarlottaValdez · 10/08/2021 17:44

My DS was happy with all milk - boobs, expressed, formula, any temperature. He’s really unfussy with food now too!

I completely get it’s emotional though, there’s a lot of emotions around feeding - there was for me anyway.

ForCluckSake · 10/08/2021 17:45

You've done amazing wether you've breastfed for 4hrs or 4 months. Would you feel better if you expressed some milk in a bottle and do a combi of bottle and boob.

CarlottaValdez · 10/08/2021 17:48

Oh I should add that I mixed fed really successfully it’s definitely not one bottle then that’s that! DS had bottles from 3 months but breastfed until he’d turned 3 years.

painauchocanot · 10/08/2021 18:14

I think we will carry on bf as long as he wants with a bottle of formula when I need the odd break. I can't be faffed with pumping if I'm honest!

That’s what I did. Breastfed at night mostly and a mix in the day.

Plumtree391 · 10/08/2021 18:54

That's wonderful, painauchoc. Real progress.

Wriggleon · 10/08/2021 18:56

My ds took a bottle from about 6 weeks, breastfeeding continued until 3 and a half, try to look upon it as a blessing
