Extremely itchy baby. Really beginning to dread breastfeeding.

Hi guys, my 6 month old baby scratches all over his body during and after breastfeeding mainly. He grabs at his skin like he wants to rip it off. He has eczema in certain places, but overall his skin is quite smooth now that we use aveeno dermexa (this is the cream that works for him). Has anyone experienced something similar?

I have a referral for allergy testing, but can’t seem to get an appointment due to covid. He breaks out in hives as a reaction to certain foods.

What can I do in the meantime to help ease my baby’s itching. It’s quite obvious it’s something in my diet causing the itch. I’m really beginning to dread breastfeeding him.

Have you tried eliminating certain things out of your diet to see if it stops the itching?

I also had an itchy baby who has eczema & like you Aveeno dermexa has cleared it. There was a stage where she would always be itching her face and head to the point where it was keeping her up at night. At the time I thought it was just the eczema but looking back I think it may have been the washing powder. Maybe it's the same for you?

Washing powder and softener are quite often the culprits. Try Surcare.
