Is this typical for primary molars?

There are 3 currently about to erupt under bulging gums and one that has just erupted.

DS is distraught, we’ve just put him down for bed and there is so much dribble on the bed it looked like he’d wee’d after 20 minutes.

He’s had nurofen and is ferociously chewing and switching between two dummies. He’s coughing and his nose is running clear and he keeps rubbing his face/mouth.

Nursery called earlier and asked us to pick him up because his cough had got worse throughout the morning, we did a covid test on the way home (awaiting results). But is this just ‘teething’? It seem brutal and much worse than any other tooth 🙄. Or are we more likely dealing with an illness.

Your poor son. My DS didn’t have this when he had his molars coming through - they weren’t any different to the other teeth. He doesn’t seem to have suffered much in general with teething though, I think he got lucky.

If it is teething, have you tried Anbesol? It numbs the gums and is meant to be very effective, from what I’ve read on MN.

This was what it was like for us yes. They were the worst teeth by a long way and I shudder to remember it.
