Help! Reflux - nearly 8 months!!

Hey all,

I am getting so upset about my daughter still having reflux. I feel like it got better a BIT when she started weaning but not completely, like she'd have some days where it stops and then some days where it was a little bit, but this week she has started spitting up a lot again m.. examples

  • woke up from nap on front, lifted her head up and was sick
  • randomly a couple of hours after eating normally after playing on Mat

She doesn't seem bothered by it at all, smiley and happy after it happens but it's really stressing me out as I filly thought it would stop by now.

Is this normal that she's nearly 8 months and still having it, and that it got better now it's worse again?

She has CPMA - but mild and she has been tested for other allergies and she doesn't any currently.

It doesn't help that I am an emetophobe 😢

Unfortunately we found early mobility was unhelpful for reflux and it continued to be an issue until dd walked more than rolling/crawling. Even now (19) she has a strong gag reflex.

Agree with sick decreasing once standing and walking was the main method of transport during the day.

Have you kept a food diary? My ds has food intolerances which can't be tested for like allergies.

I remember when my DS was 9 months getting really fed up thinking surely this should have stopped by now. I’m sure by one it had pretty much gone though

My son's finally eased enough to stop Omeprazole at a year old.

I could have literally wrote your post!!! My LO also has reflux and CMPA and is just over 8 months old. On Pepti 1 formula and baby gaviscon. The past few weeks has vomited like never before and became extremely constipated. Tried for an appointment twice with the GP and they said not urgent and so we waited 2 weeks for a telephone consultation. Me and DH made the decision to stop the gaviscon and I’m not even lying it’s like we have a different baby! Still some vomiting but nothing like it was and no more pain/vomiting when lying on back or tummy. When we finally had the GP appointment they said they can grow out of it at this age and they would suggest to come off the gaviscon now. Might be worth a try to stop/reduce medication if on any?

My DD has suffered with reflux since birth (she’s 15 months old now) and her reflux got noticeably bad around 7/8 months to the point she was bringing everything up, milk, food, the lot. It did get better after a few weeks though.

But just wondering, is your LO teething? My DD’s reflux flares up bad when she’s teething - guessing due to the extra saliva.

@Vicky1989x yes she's teething! A tooth just started coming through - maybe that's why it's got bad again! Saying that today she literally had nothing, it's so up and down!!
