Baby always fussing/ crying when awake

Hi all. My 8wo has very little awake time when she is not crying or fussing (or feeding). She basically sleeps, wakes to feed and then either goes back to sleep or fusses and cries until I can settle her (in which case she falls back asleep). Is this normal? Was hoping for that lovely awake time to play, read and sing and there is rarely an opportunity - although I do sing to her to settle her. I don’t know many babies but my sister had a baby last year and I remember going out for lunch at about this age and me and mum holding her baby and she was awake and engaging with us not just asleep or crying. She eats fairly well, I wind her but she doesn’t bring much up and she sleeps ok too. I’ve been to the GP and we’ve just started treating reflux so trying to rule that out. I’m also seeking breastfeeding support as I think she takes a lot of air in which might cause a lot of wind. It’s making me feel quite nervous to go places as I’m worried she will just cry the whole time. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Also just to add there are other symptoms which relate to the reflux which is why we’re trying medication.
