7 month old feeding!

Hi,
I was wondering if I was giving my 7 month old baby boy the right amount of bottles a day.
At the moment he has 3 milk formula feeds per day. He has one at 8am, one at 12pm and one at 5pm?
He normally goes asleep around 7pm.

Should I be adding in another feed after 5pm and maybe pushing that one back till around 4pm to get in another feed at 8pm ish?

What does everyone else suggest? I am very stuck on what to do?

Minimum recommended at that age is around 20oz so if he's happy with what you're offering then I'd stick with it

What size are the bottles? A seven-month-old should on average be drinking 6-8 ounces of formula between 4 and 6 times per day (so between 24 and 48 oz per day depending on appetite and how many solids they consume).

3 feeds is perhaps a little low, unless your bottles are 8oz or more. That said, all babies are different - if he’s eating well, gaining weight and has plenty of wet nappies, he’s probably fine. But it’s worth remembering that at this age he gets most of his nutrition from milk rather than food, so you don’t want to replace too much of his milk intake with solid food.

My DD was at 3 feeds a day at 7 months. I think most of my NCT group were still on between 4-7 feeds a day by then, so I was initially a bit worried, but DD took really well to solids and we were on three meals a day relatively early.

DD really lost interest in milk about 5 months and it felt like every feed was a battle for that last month before weaning her at 6 months! In hindsight I wish I'd weaned her earlier but really wanted to stick to the guidelines.

I really wouldn't worry about milk intake at that age as long as you are happy he is getting nutrition elsewhere and is suitably hydrated. I think you need 500-600ml a day of formula to be guaranteed that they're getting the right vitamins so maybe try to add multivitamin drops if not.

There's no harm in offering an extra milk feed if you think he might take it but don't try and force it if not

He has 8oz (240ml) at each feed and he always takes it all. It is very very rare that he leaves any of his milk.

He took to solids really well and currently has 3 meals a day. He is definitely putting on the weight.

He does have warm cooked water in between his feeds aswell.

I just didn't know whether he should be having more?

Sounds fine unless you feel he needs extra. You don't need to boil water for drinking after 6 months btw
