Six month old- how many night feeds? (Breastfed)

Hi. My LO is six months old. We're trying to sort out night time sleep with some gentle sleep training. Still lots of night wakes- approx 4-6 a night. She is mostly waking between sleep cycles, not because she is hungry. However I still want to give one or two night feeds but not sure how much she actually needs. Really hard to tell when she wakes crying if it is hunger or just another wake up. We've only just started weaning so she still needs all her milk. At four months (before sleep went belly up) she was only feeding once or twice a night. Don't mind two feeds a night (spaced 4hr apart) but want to be consistent and keep night wakes to a minimum so wonder if one feed is best? I've been giving 1 or 2 for the past week doesn't seem to change subsequent wake ups.

Any tips / advice? TIA

We did sleep training at 6 months and started with two feeds in the night. Once he got used to self settling it naturally reduced to 1 over the next couple of months as he started to not wake until 3ish.

@becca3210 that's useful thanks. Might try that approach. How long did it take before the self settling was reliable? We're two weeks in. Still early days but starting to get with down a bit. No going back now though!

We did sleep training at 8 months and 9 months with 3 DC. Both times they were down to 1 or 2 feeds a night and I went cold turkey on them as peart of sleep training.

I just fed when they woke as I was never able to stop them screaming for milk. Sometimes it was very often and other times less. I'd say at least 2/3 and that was putting him to bed at 11 with a feed usually. At 9 months when we moved out our bedroom and left him to it he slept through and has been pretty.much sleeping through. Same with my other one who suddenly started sleeping through at 8 months, again when we moved him to his own room.
