Toddler hates sleeping bags

My baby always refused to sleep in a sleeping bag but was happy with blankets, so we stuck with those. He’s generally a good sleeper but tends to move around a lot in his cot, so the blanket inevitably comes off during the night. Even though he does usually sleep through, I can’t help worrying that he’s getting cold! As it’s summer he’s currently sleeping in a short-sleeved vest and pyjama bottoms, but maybe I should switch back to sleepsuits so his feet don’t get cold. He’s 15 months old.

WWYD?

Don't worry about it. My 6 month old twins hate sleeping bags and kick blankets off - I put them
In the sleep suits with feet and leave them to it - I figure they'll wake up or fidget around which I'll hear if they get cold

My children never had sleepsuits….never realised they were a thing until my grandchild came along. I put socks on mine if it was very cold or sleep suit.

It's fine, long as dressed appropriately!
I found socks would always come so he was in sleep suits for awhile again

If he was cold he would wake up or move the blankets over him. You’re inventing a non-existent problem here to worry about!

Poppop4 · 31/07/2021 10:09

Cold babies cry. I really wouldn’t worry too much.
In the winter maybe put socks on him but he’d let you know if he was cold

Neverrains · 31/07/2021 10:11

If he was cold he’d let you know, surely? Why would you worry about a toddler being cold if they’re happy, sleeping and not complaining about being cold? What do you think the negative effects would be?

Heartofglass12345 · 31/07/2021 15:04

I would put them in a baby gro and not worry about the blankets. My MIL was always (still is lol) obsessed with the fact that my kids were cold, had t shirts on and no socks even when it was hot in the summer or in the winter when we had the central heating on it used to drive me mad, they weren't cold lol

Heartofglass12345 · 31/07/2021 15:05

Oh I think what @Marshy86 has posted would be great for the winter too

LakeShoreD · 31/07/2021 15:11

Complete none issue. By the time it’s actually cold enough for this to be a worry he’ll be a bit older and will probably stay under a duvet. Also socks! But if he’s too cold he’ll be sure to let you know. You don’t even need to think about this as long as he’s sleeping soundly.

Oh my DS hates sleeping bags, he hates blankets, he hates pushchair cover - basically anything that covers his legs, always kicking off everything.
