Hello everyone how's everyone's little ones? My little girl is now 7 weeks Monday,,, basically I've tried to do everything for her what it is when she poo it really hurts her she screams like there's no tomo I've taken her to the hospital and they basically said it's normal at this stage I've took her to the doctors and they said it will past.... but if it doesn't bring her back in 2-3 weeks.... what does everything else thing I've never known a baby to cry like she does when she poos it's so horrible to see her in pain and the way she gets!!!

She is probably not actually in pain. What is common at this age with pooing is what they call infant dyschezia (hopefully I've spelt it right). It makes their pooing appear very painful and distressing for them but what you're actually seeing is frustration and effort.

Basically in order to poo you have to do two things at once. Relax the sphincter muscle but also apply pressure downwards (push). Your baby doesn't know this yet and her reflex to push isn't yet aligned up with the reflex to relax. So she will push and push and push with absolutely no effect as she's pushing against a closed gate if you like.

I found what helped the most was trying to help my baby to relax at these times, as well as encourage a good position to poo, so holding him upright, bending his knees up etc.

It looks like pain but it isn't. It's totally painless for them. Just very very frustrating. And that screaming is her trying so determinedly! Once I understood this, I found it much easier to deal with. And yes it does go away by itself as their reflexes mature and begin to match up.

I should add, I had never heard of this until I had my second child.

Yes I have tried everything with her to help her but it doesn't seem to work she really tences up aswell so I can't move her legs it's really horrible to see her in so much pain.... I've never had this befor.... I try massagering her stomach aswell But nothing seems to help her but once she's been she's fine....

Oh so your saying it's not pain because it feels like it when she goes as I have her in up right on me trying to put her legs up laying her down etc but I don't no what else I can d lo for her when she gets like it
