No period after abortion

Hi everyone

Sensitive subject but please be kind, I'm just looking for other people who have been in this situation.

I had an abortion over 6 weeks ago and my period still hasn't returned, my doctor said to wait another 2 weeks but I'm not holding much hope.

I've done a pregnancy test and it's negative, could it be retained product or is my period just delayed for some reason?

Has anyone else been through this and if so when did your period return?

I can’t really help you but I think you should post this in a different part of the forum, you posted it under parenting, i guess its one of the less busy ones so you’ll prob not get alot of answers.

Hi,
Whilst my situation is different and I had to end up having a D&C it took 8 weeks for my period to return.
Your body will be healing inside and getting ready to reset.
It can vary for people some being 10 weeks etc.

@Cocomade thank you, I really hope they return soon, my doctor said to give it another 2 weeks and I took a test yesterday to make sure it was negative and it was so hopefully that means there's no retained products or anything x

Yeah so the negative test is a good thing.
It's a hard waiting game but just try and relax.

How long did it take you to get your period in the end? Its been 7 weeks since my abortion. I had a scan and everthing looked normal, but still no sign of a period. :(

@Milliegirl25 hey lovely, try not to worry, I was a wreck thinking it would never come back, I had my abortion in June last year and my period retuned last October so it took quite a long time, I nearly cried happy tears when I saw the first hint of red 😅 atleast you've had a scan so you know it's all been successful, it just seems to take a while for some people's body's to return to normal but it will x
