Since before Christmas, one of my then 2.5 year twin sons (T1) started fighting bedtime then at Christmas dropped napping. The other twin (T2) then got chicken pox, then gastro and then T1 got chicken pox and then they both had colds on and off for the following months - all this resulting in many sleepless nights in the 7 months. The bedtime fight did get better but then about 5 weeks ago T1 started fighting bedtime again(not going down til 9/9.30), not sleeping through the night and waking at 5-6am - we are at our wits end and exhausted. I initially thought it was because his crèche were pushing a nap on him as we noticed at the weekend things were slightly better when he didn't nap but crèche closes for the summer and for the last two weeks, nap or not, he's fighting bedtime, waking through the night and up very early. He just can't be getting enough sleep - we certainly aren't. Everything I read is about keeping a calm bedtime routine but we've always been strict with routine as they are twins and we've had the same routine for the last two years. We tried a gro clock but he refused to have it the bedroom, we've always had blackout blinds etc so I'm at a loss what else to do. Anyone else experience this? He turned 3 a couple of weeks ago.

What time does he go to bed and what time is getting up? How much sleep his he getting? Is the bedroom blacked out? Is he getting enough exercise? Toddlers are like dogs, they need 3 good runs a day.

We start getting ready for bed at 7pm, by the time both are ready, stories read and teeth brushed they are in bed for 7.45 - T2 asleep by 8pm. They both used to fall asleep by 8. Yes the room is blacked out and have been since they were born. The summer creche they are attending take them out for walks, have gym classes etc and at the weekend we take them to park etc - so I think (hope) they are getting enough activity. We are going to try an earlier bed time today
