FTM and it’s DS’ first birthday coming up, I have no idea what to get him! I know he’s not going to understand too much and not remember. His family are mainly buying him clothes I think.

I’d like to get something he will enjoy so recommendations on what you’re little ones loved would be great to hear!

A few ideas depending on budget and space

  • a little trampoline with a handle they hold on to to bounce
  • a Walker or a toy trolley or lawn mower etc- something they can push
  • toy musical instrument set with shakers, drum etc
  • bounce and spin zebra
  • a toy animal with wheels on a lead they can pull/take for a wall
  • toys with bits they can empty and refill e.g. a postbox, cookie jar, shape sorter, toy counting pig money box
  • books
  • animal magnets
  • noisy toy with lights/music
  • activity table
  • a ride on
  • pop up and surprise jungle animals
  • sand/water table

Hope he has a great day!

We got DD a little tikes playhouse for the garden as she loves the one outside a cafe we go to. They’re expensive new but we bought one in good condition second hand for less than half price. We also bought the little tikes rocker the seller had as well.

To be fair it’s been in the garden a couple of weeks now and she’s not one till this weekend, but I thought she should get the use out of it whilst the weather was good!

I’ve also bought a bubble machine, some wooden jigsaw puzzles and a couple more of the ‘that’s not my’ books as they’re her favourite.

Toy kitchen,
A toy hoover they can push about

Something for their room (my child may have got a wardrobe one early Xmas)

DS’s first birthday present was a Little Tykes Cosy Coupe. He used it until at least 5, and his younger brother has had hours of play since.

I think the biggest hit for our was an indoor tent/ play house

You can always get one big thing and then little things to go with like a big present would be a mini kitchen/tool shed and then the small things could be books, mini toys like tiny tikes or soft toys. Then of course cake cause who doesn't love cake!?
