3 year old being violent

I'm hoping someone will be able to give me some advice.

My 3 year old DD has started hitting and kicking me during tantrums. She only ever does this to me or her younger brother. I expected the tantrums from her but this is starting to really upset me.

I have tried to reason with her (I know, I know), talk calmly to find out what is wrong and lastly time out. Only time out has any effect and she can have a good 10-15 minutes of just screaming before she'll eventually calm down and say sorry. I very rarely shout at her, she laughs when I do.

I'm at the end of my tether with it. The rage seems to come from nowhere. She hasn't been exposed to violence in real life or age inappropriate films etc.

Her dad says she has behavioural issues which I do disagree with. She's usually fine, behaves great in public and nursery etc, it's just at home. Is it me? What am I doing wrong? I don't want her 2 year old brother picking this up too so really need to nip it in the bud.
