Trying to clear recurrent thrush rash in DD.....how do I treat her nappies and wraps?

DD and I are having a slight candida problem. I've finally isolated her recurrent nasty nappy rash as thrush. It clears up when in dispos, but as soon as she goes back in cloth it springs back again with lightning speed.

What can I wash her nappies (mostly shaped cotton or bamboo terry or cotton/hemp fleece) and wraps (tots, rikki, nature babies) in to ensure that the fungus is wiped out?

TIA

The wraps I wouldn't really worry about as they are not in direct contact with the skin. The nappies I would wash as hot as they can go. When my ds had thrush I kept him in prefolds as they could be washed at 95, his bamboo nappies I didn't dare wash at anyting above 60. I also put bio d nappy fresh in the wash as well.

thanks tutu

the reason I ask about the wraps is that the rash seems worse where the elastic is touching the inside of her thighs and across her tummy.

I've got some nappy sanitiser. I'll check the box for whether or not it is anti-fungal.

daisy here in aus you can get a canestan rinse - and I used that - perhaps that too is available in the UK. I used it with nappies - I am sure the bottle has other suggestions on it too.

thanks eidsvold, I'll investigate

Re the wraps. I think it sound more like she is having a reaction to the elastic which is a seperate problem to the thrush. Good Luck sorting it out.

that has occurred to me tutu, but she was absolutely fine for the first 10 weeks of using cloth. I'll get the thrush cleared up (and the new cream/steroid she got yesterday is working it's magic already), get the nappies disinfected and then see how things go from there.

My ds was fine in his wraps for 18 months and then developed a rash when in tots wraps. It just came totally out of the blue. His was fine in all others, but tots left a sore line where the binding had been.

Just remembered though someone saying on here once that if the binding gets a bit damp and then dries out and you don't notice and use the same wrap for several changes the ammonia from the urine on the binding can irritate their skin.

Hope everything clears up well for your dd.
