Potty training for "number 2"

Hi,
My DD is 2 years and 9 months. I'm a teacher so have been waiting for a good stretch of time at home to potty train and started this week. First day was Tuesday and she can now do wee on the potty absolutely fine. She barely drinks so the biggest issue has been getting fluid in her so she can actually do a wee. But she seems to be absolutely terrified of poos. She goes and hides behind a sofa or in a different room when she needs a poo usually but that's proving to be an issue now we are trying to use a potty. She is yet to do a poo on the potty/toilet but today she kept running to the potty thinking she needed a wee and I knew there was a poo brewing but then she hid again and before I managed to get to her she had done her poo. Really need some advice to tackle this. Thanks.

If she doesn’t drink enough then her poos maybe too firm and might hurt. You need to up her liquid to give hint chocolate, juice, ice lollies, watermelon and other high liquid content food. I was worried about sugar with my first but after dealing with UTI and constipation I’ve given in and a few years later all my oldest now drinks is water anyway.

Download the pooland app. And put the potty where she normally likes to poo. She goes to a private place because she knows it’s not socially acceptable to poo in the middle of a room of people. She isn’t scared of pooing but she is scared of pooing on the potty because it’s new. As gross as it may feel let her see you poo. Let her sometimes you have to wait a bit for a poo to come out. Talk about how everyone poos including animals. Discuss poo a lot.

Ah thank you. Yea we have had a lot of ice lollies and fruit this week. I will have a look at the pooland app thanks. And thats a good idea to put the potty where she poos. Do I need more than 1 potty?

Poo goes to Pooland and usbourne lift the flap book why do we need a potty.

That and time, it's a new sensation most of the time mine use to squat to do it in a nappy so it's a new position too.

Oh and my first would not poo with a audience so I had to leave the room. But sometimes tucking the potty behind a chair or in a play tent works.

Yea I guess it's just time. She's doing so well with weeing. So as long as we get there in the next 5 weeks she might be alright for nursery again 🤷‍♀️ thanks all. We have a millie and mo book that she loves so we will have a look at the pooland stuff x

Rewards. Chocolate and stickers. I was so happy I gave my DD a whole kinder bar when she did her first one in the loo. She never gets chocolate. Every time she did a poo she asked for chocolate and then one day forgot and never asked again.

Have you tried a loo seat rather than potty. We skipped the potty stage as she was nearly 3.

But she was the same refused to poo and would hide in corners to poo and I would just lift her straight to the loo

Good luck

Yea we have a paw patrol seat on the loo. She seems to like the potty more though. She just came running saying she needed a wee and did one on the potty. She likes the pooland app now too thanks for advice. She has a sticker chart and it's full of stars for having a try and having a wee but nothing for poos.

My friend gave me some great advice

Put the potty in the bathroom or toilet

You wouldn't see/ poo in the lounge so why should they??

Worked a treat
