When did you establish a consistent routine for your LO in terms of naps and bedtime.

When they went to school.

We followed a bedtime ‘routine’ from a couple of weeks in, as in we did the same steps (bath, massage, jammies, feed, bed) every night, but the time varied hugely depending on his naps / how tired he was etc.

From about 3 months he had a more consistent bedtime, and from about 6 months a daily routine of naps, feeds and bedtime began to emerge. Now at 7.5 months we have reasonably consistent timings for these things, but it does depend on when he wakes up and the length of his naps etc.

When my LO got to 3 naps a day - slowly with every nap drop things have become easier. I found I had to be very active with having strict nap routine- ie trying my best to get her to nap within a half hour (sometimes an hour) window, the same time every day. She is 20mo now and it's much easier now she is on one nap. Just keep consistent and things will get easier and a little more predictable...as much as you can with a LO!

3 solid meals and 2 naps sooo…about 8 months? Before being established on solids and needing more than 2 naps it was a complete free for all, despite my best efforts…

We did a bedtime routine from early on of change to pjs and last feed in the dark but this was late at night then at 4 months started a bedtime routine at 7.30. From then on we started finding a natural nap routine and it was relatively well established by 6 months but I followed DDs lead.

I was desperate for a routine as I love routine and structure. But it took me a while to realise to go with my DS. We have a bedtime routine bath, stories, milk, bed but the time varies depending on how the day goes but it is roughly 7ish. He wakes anywhere from 4.30 to 6.30am in the morning so we go from there! He is 8 months old and I feel like there is more routine and structure now than at 6 months. Especially now he is on 3 meals a day and 2 naps (normally).
