My baby just tested positive for Covid 😓

So worried about him. We’ve had him at the hospital and doctors twice. The 3rd time yesterday and they decided to Covid test 😓
He’s 7 months. Anyone else had a similar experience and all okay?

I hope he’s ok. Can I ask what symptoms he had and how unwell he is with it ?
I have a baby and we had been told of she got it her symptoms would be mild ??

Lifeandlemons · 21/07/2021 11:23

My child tested positive back in December when he was one. Other than a few mild symptoms he was fine. He recently had adenovirus which was so much worse.

Ozanj · 21/07/2021 11:26

He’ll be fine don’t worry. DS got Covid when he was three months old (back when they wouldn’t test you until you stopped breathing Angry) and he was fine. I was told to treat it like a chest infection so lots of fluids, paracetamol if there’s a fever and to take him into the garden where possible for fresh air. I was told to keep a diary for any changes, no matter how minor, and to contact 111 to discuss them. I was practically on the phone with them everyday but they were really helpful and sent out GPs if they weren’t sure.

Have you been given a similar treatment plan? Or can you call your GP / pediatrician service for one?

Sorry to hear your baby is unwell too, awful in the hot weather too!
He’s had an on and off temp, highest of 39. Lethargy, wake windows of say 10 mins some days 🤯 off his milk, no solids, crying a lot, diorreah, runny nose (basically a snot machine), congestion, coughing and sickness, I think caused from the amount of congestion as it’s been when he has been coughing/burping it all just comes back up.
All his other vitals in the hospital were okay, so they sent us home and seemed unconcerned really, just can’t help but worry as he’s been like this for a week

The only baby I know with covid had a bit of a temp but is currently in hospital because she can't keep any bottles down. Properly upset her stomach it has

gamerchick · 21/07/2021 11:29

Hope you're little one is on the mend soon. Poor thing Flowers

GreyhoundG1rl · 21/07/2021 11:30

Oh no Flowers. Hope all is well soon.

Lifeandlemons · 21/07/2021 11:32

@FTMworrier sounds like your little one is having a much tougher time of it than we did. Is he taking milk or any foods? Nappies okay? Don't be afraid to go back to the hospital if you feel he needs seeing.

With our most recent virus my boy has a temp of 41 which didn't come down with a fever, slept solidly for three days and refused to eat or drink. It took three visits to the hospital for them to admit him and put him on a drip. We stayed there for four days.

Thanks for you as this is such a frightening time but it will pass.

Blippibloppi · 21/07/2021 11:47

Mine got it at 6 weeks. Coped better than me and DH - he only had a cough.

Twistiesandshout · 21/07/2021 11:48

It is worrying I know. DD 13 months, DD 9, DS 6 all had it over a month ago. The baby was by far the sickest, she still has an awful cough many weeks later and is now on inhalers. She had super high temp for 10 days, didn't eat for 7 (still had breastmilk).

It is awful and scary but you will get through it.

hugs to you all.

Katefoster · 21/07/2021 11:58

I'm sorry x my friends HV was waiting for her results but still went and did her calls as usual then her results came back positive and my friends baby caught it. She was only a few weeks old. She was hospitalised but is absolutely fine now. I hope the HV was fired. Hope your babies okay xx

FTMworrier · 21/07/2021 19:51

@Ozanj thank you. Similar to advice we were given and they weren’t overly concerned, which I guess is a good thing. I think it’s just the fear of hearing the word Covid 😟

FTMworrier · 21/07/2021 19:52

@gamerchick thank you 💝 yes he has had an upset tummy too and a sore bum in the few days prior to him having temperature, I did wonder if it was related!

OP posts:
FTMworrier · 21/07/2021 19:55

@Lifeandlemons he has taken much more milk today, probably 2/3rds of his usual, no solids though. Lots of wet nappies thankfully! Yesterday was so scary as he would just cry with the bottle and then fall asleep, then cry out in pain in his sleep 😞
They did assure me I can go back at anytime. I do find myself wondering if I am overreacting, but Mummy instinct is very real 🙏🏻
Gosh, your little boy must have been so poorly, hope he is back to full health xx

FTMworrier · 21/07/2021 19:57

@Twistiesandshout you must have been out of your mind with worry! Ten days is not too far away, so hopefully he will be back to full health soon!

FTMworrier · 21/07/2021 19:57

@Katefoster thank you, he is much brighter today.

That is so awful of the HV 🤯🙈

It’s distressing at the best of times when babies are sick. Hopefully he starts to feel better soon. Flowers

A friends baby had covid at about 3 months. Poorly for a few days but bounced back quickly.

Haudyourwheesht · 21/07/2021 20:00

My niece had it at about that age, but she had it the mildest of her family. If you're looking for a bright side, at least she'll have antibodies once it's done.

Jacky209990 · 21/07/2021 20:37

My 2.5 year old tested positive last week, had a tempature easily treated by calpol and a cough. Get to day 10 of isolation and my 3 month old has a temp and cough. Waiting for the test to arrive. She's really struggling today, vomited half her feeds, temperature keeps rising once the medication wears off. I don't even know if she has it but gp won't even thing about anything else until she has a test.
