Lunchtime nap is a disaster :-(

Hi all Im trying to pinpoint where I'm going wrong and it's driving me up the wall.
5month old daughter is not getting enough daytime sleep. Typical day
6.30
8.45 first nap 45 mins
12.00 second nap...wakes after 45 mins...I then try and let her resettle and she does but then wakes after 5 mins and cries and then sort of resettled and then wakes... this repeats indefinitely until i either try and feed her and get her back to sleep or shhh pat or anything but usually ends up her getting upset, me getting upset and me getting her out of bed.
1600 third nap 45 mins
7pm bedtime
Nights have been good the last 2 days - dream feed at 10.30 and then a feed at 12.30 and 3.30.

I know its not the end of the world but I want the best for her and I know she should be enjoying a nice restorative lunchtime nap of 2hrs...how can I try and achieve this? Its really frustrating us both. Any tips so so welcome xx

My baby is nearly six months and occasionally does a long nap but most are 30-45min. I go by wake windows- she definitely gets grouchy if awake for two hours so I aim for 90min awake between naps. If she's up early (which she often is) we have five of these short naps a day, otherwise it's four. So I would get your one napping more frequently if possible.

I'm dreaming of long naps days in the future so we have more time to get out and about. And currently most of my day revolves around the multiple nap times and getting her to sleep.

Yes I have never heard of a baby that was doing 2 hours while still on 3 naps.

Dd did 1 sleep cycle of 30-45 mins for each nap when she was on 3.

Now (17mo) she's dropped to 1 nap and does 2.5 hours.

My daughter only started doing 2 hour sleeps in the afternoon when she was about 20 months - 2 years approx. Before then she would sleep 30 mins max at a time during the day unless she was in a pram / car. It’s a hard slog, you have my sympathy

Having kids is so much harder than I expected but in a totally different way that I ever expected! It's all the clichés..you just can't explain it until you've been through it. Mad world!!!
