9 month old not imitating

My little girl turned 9 months old today. She’s sitting unaided, has excellent fine motor skills, babbly and smiley. She’s very close to crawling and is pushing herself backwards. The only thing I am concerned about is the fact she doesn’t copy- no gestures, no facial expressions (except a smile) and no noises. We talk and sing all day. Is this a worry at this age? X

I thought that mimicking was a 12 month progress check but I could be wrong Smile

Sounds fine to me. Maybe they prefer smiles. What were you trying to get them to imitate? Pensive? Roger Moore bond eyebrow?

Honestly this sounds totally fine. You say she’s smiley and babbly, that’s the most important things at this age.

Definitely more of a 12 month thing. Smiles in return and some exchanges in noises (doesn't have to be copying) is lovely at this age. My first DS never mimicked sounds (i even started a thread on here when he was a year) but he got there eventually and is a very verbal typical three year old now.

No, not a worry at all.
