Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on keeping a newborn cool in the summer? i’ve been keeping him in just a nappy and then as it gets cooler i’ve added a vest, and at night he just sleeps in his nappy and swaddle.

He is three weeks old, is he able to go in a paddling pool in the garden? (obviously i would make the water and appropriate temperature and ensure he is wearing suitable clothing because i know they can’t regulate their temperature in the water.

maybe playing in his bathtub in the garden? just after any tips and tricks because he seems to be really struggling in the heat:(

Do not put him in water to cool him down.

It might sound counter intuitive but skin to skin will help h regulate his temperature (because you do it for them). It's also good for temperature control post vaccination/when ill

Keep the house/flat as cool as you can

Strip him to his nappy and do skin to skin.

No, do not put a newborn in a pool or water to cool them down.

Just a nappy and a nice cool home and some skin to skin. My DS was born in July 2019 so know the worry about them over heating.

Do you have a gro egg for your room where baby sleeps? I found this really helpful.
