Leave the potty hanging about - it will be a toy box, hat, dollies bed etc long before it will be a potty but at least LO will be familiar with it ...

Look out for signs such as squatting in the corner, or telling you that they have a wet/dirty nappy ...when they tell you that they are about to do a wet/dirty nappy then get the toy box/hat ready

Bribery...... Once DD1 understood what was being asked of her and had managed to produce a wee in the potty there was much clapping, praise, singing, dancing, calling granny and every other relative under the sun with the good news, but what really worked for her was the promise that if she repeated this wondrous feat she would receive a chocolate button. The next day she managed to squeeze out about 25 tiny wees and claimed her chocolate button every time. Thankfully it was only about 10 days before she forgot to keep asking for the chocolate button.

Baby Led Potty Training:

Tell them what potty is for

Leave it out

Don't worry

They will get there (eventually)

A special book about a wee (lol) boy using a potty that we read everytime...being happy when he wants to go, but not screaming "why me, God, why me!" if he doesn't make it ...appreciating that they have to potty train, not you and they will get there eventually... My Wee Friend stickers on the bottom of the potty add a bit of interest to. (they are black until the warm wee gets to it then a little smilie pic appears
