Should I be giving him more routine?!

Hi everyone

I posted a little while back about getting into a routine for my baby boy. He’s coming up to 4 months old now and I’m wondering if I should be setting him down for set naps yet? Or do I just let him sleep on me as he has been doing for the past 4 months! I feel like letting him do this will make it hard for me to put him down in his crib when he does start having proper daytime naps. I’m confused by it all haha do I carry on feeding on demand etc?!

It's totally up to you. Do you feel your life would be easier if you had a routine, or does it feel like more stress and something you "should" but don't necessarily want to do?

You don't need a routine unless you want one. But if you do want one it's not a bad age to start.

You should always continue to feed on demand. DD2 was loosely in a routine by that age because she had to fit in around DD1. In some ways I found it easier but I missed us being able to have lazy mornings especially after tricker nights.

It's entirely up to you and what works for your family tbh.
I wanted a routine but I let DS create it himself so to speak, he got himself into the 4 hourly mark for feeds at 3 months and I stuck to it from there.
I also enjoyed the sleepy cuddles but I did start putting him down so I could do some jobs etc

My baby just turned four months. We have a very loose routine that she set herself to be honest. Her first nap is never more than 30 min and is always in her big crib to start her getting used to it. Her looong nap in the middle of the day (2-3 hours) is always in her ergobaby carrier. She then has a little 15-20 min cat nap around half five. Start bedtime routine around half 6 and usually down between half 7 and 8. She will wake up once or twice in the night for food (or sometimes not). We just go with the flow.
