9 month old not crawling

Is this a cause for concern? We put her on her front with something appealing in front and she just rolls over. I know some babies don't crawl and just start walking, but I'm reading of other babies at this age crawling, pulling themselves up and cruising and she is nowhere even close to this kind of stuff.

Is there anything I can do to help? Should I be flagging this with my health visitor? Is this a developmental delay?

I wouldn’t worry honestly! My DD didn’t even roll until 8.5 months and didn’t crawl until she was almost 11 months. She didn’t pull to stand or cruise until after she turned 1 either.

She’ll do it when she’s ready I’m sure, but definitely doesn’t sound like developmental delay to me. Smile

Perfectly normal not to be crawling at 9 months. One of mine crawled at 11.5 months which is the later end of average. He’s way more sporty than his brother who was much much earlier to crawl and walk.

Do not worry. My ds didn't crawl until gone 1 and has only just started to walk, by this I mean a couple of steps unaided at 22 months. All babies are different, I know its easy to say but they are. Are they learning to do other things mine was talking loads early and eats really well.

Be very grateful ime. Your home is safe that bit longer!! As is your sanity!!
Honestly try and enjoy the stage your dc is at now. Everyone you know will fill you with tales of how their dc was born practically walking and slept 12 hours from day 1. Your dc is your dc.
I have many many dc and are all different. One dd had a mouthful of teeth by her first birthday.. Another had none!!

No! DD1 crawled at ten months, walked at 13 and according to nursery is 'exceeding' in gross motor skills. She's such an agile little thing now at nearly 3. At her 9 month review the HV arranged a phone call for 3 months later as she barely ticked any of the gross motor boxes! When that phone call came she ticked nearly every single box!

No need to worry at all. Both mine we still sitting still at 1, moving soon after and then walking independently around 18 months. Much easier to look after than a highly mobile baby. Enjoy it while you can :)

I could have written this post about 2 weeks ago. My 9 month old didn't even roll much and showed zero interest in crawling. In the past two weeks she started rolling more, then commando crawling and now at nearly 10 months is properly crawling, can get herself into the sitting position and has started to try to pull herself up . I'm SO annoyed with myself that I wasted time worrying. Your little one will probably do the same and suddenly start doing it, and you have nothing to worry about (although I know this is easier said than done!). I think health visitors only flag a potential problem if baby is showing no signs of wanting to move (bum shuffling, commando crawling etc) at 12 months.

My first crawled at 10 months, my second was walking by 10 months, both very normal. Definitely nothing to worry about for a few more months. The son of a friend of mine didn't crawl till he was well over 12 months, he's 3.5 now and perfectly normal.

According to mum, my brother didn't crawl at all but stood up and started walking at 11 months.

firstimemamma · 14/07/2021 21:59

Ds pretty much sat watching the world go by until 1. Walked at 18 months. At nearly 3 now he runs around like a nutter with all the other kids. If I told you he was mobile at 6 months you'd have no reason to not believe me!

Stuff like this doesn't matter and plenty of babies don't crawl full stop anyway.

Just for fun watch Bluey Baby Race! It's an awesome episode.

Plus I wouldn't sweat it. Some babies don't crawl as per the book. Mine didn't they just got up and walked

00100001 · 14/07/2021 22:08

Nope!

Nothing to worry about!

LillyLeaf · 14/07/2021 22:16

My DS doesn't crawl at 11.5 months but is walking 6/7 steps unaided. He just hates being on his stomach. He can roll and sort of crawl backwards but not forwards. He seems happy enough.

ASomers · 15/07/2021 07:41

My dd just started crawling at 10 months. Like you, I was getting worried. Now she's off like a shot! She'll do it when she's ready xx
