DD is nearly 2 and a half and she never wants to walk anywhere when we are out she constantly wants to be picked up.
She's fine at soft play or the park, straight in to play for hours but for anything else it's a massive battle.
Obviously I always have her pushchair and if it's a long walk, shopping trip etc I dont expect her to walk but for small things like walking 10 steps to the supermarket from the car, walking a few steps from a car park to a friends house etc results in whining, putting her hands up to be picked up and if I don't do it then results in a tantrum and she will sit on the floor and refuse to move. I physically cannot hold her for long as she is heavy.
She hates sitting in a trolley, if I make her sit in one that results in screaming so I say well you walk or go in the trolley cue more screaming if I put her down so shopping trips are a mix of me holding her for long as I can then screaming when I put her down and repeat.
I've tried to be firm and say no I can't
carry you it's either pushchair/ trolley or walk and she just gets hysterical.
I go for walks with other parents with DC similar age and they all walk for abit, get tired and sit in the pushchair maybe and then walk again abit later with no fuss. My DD will want to get out the pushchair but then start the whole pick me up cycle and scream when I end up putting her back in the pushchair.
I'm not expecting her to walk miles just a few steps sometimes! What else can I do?
