Just turned two year old has been ill since Friday, and mouth (tongue and inside top and bottom lip as far as can tell) full of ulcers/blisters (none anywhere else). Doc said most likely HFM on phone but not v interested, just advised Calpol, fluids etc. Temp has gone and she’s picked up a bit, but won’t eat anything…(understandably I guess) just drinking milk. Literally had a few grapes, lick of yoghurt/mini milk. Have tried everything including ice cream. Won’t even take Calpol/Nurofen.
Also hasn’t let anyone anywhere near with toothbrush and her breath is terrible… got in for 5 secs today and lots of blood which looks like coming from gums, so a bit worried they are also infected.
Is there anything else we could/should be doing besides offering her fluids/food/lots of cuddles?? It’s horrible!
Thanks so much

If they won't take calpol perhaps try paracetamol suppositories available from your pharmacy. Once the pain is eased they may be more willing to drink and eat. As worrying as it is, a well child will suffer no ill effects from a few days with no (or minimal food) as long as they are drinking - milk is even better.
You've tried lollies, how about jelly? It's also full of water. Depending on your feeling about sugar flat coke or similar is always appealing to small kids

Thank you so much…hadn’t thought of jelly, so that’s one for tomorrow! Reassuring words, thank you. She’s actually in her cot now which is an improvement from face down on me so hopefully we are getting through it. Thanks again
