Pfizer side effects on my breastfed baby

Hi,

I took first dose of pfizer my baby has fever. My baby is just a year old. I’m so worried about him. Please let me know if it’s normal or anyone else is having these symptoms on breastfeeding babies.

Well, the good news is that you'll be passing on white blood cells through your milk.

Has the fever come down with Calpol?

Zarene · 10/07/2021 19:23

Fevers in babies are very common, what makes you think it was the jab?

MerryDecembermas · 10/07/2021 19:38

DC2 is 20 months and bf. I had Pfizer and she had no symptoms that I saw. I thought it would be a good thing because I'm passing on my immunity to her. Same as if I had any other vaccine or bug

Yes!! It’s came down with calpol.

Yes!! But he was fine before I took it. He got fever after vaccination.

I hope he will be fine. I’m just worried.

It's probably a coincidence. Just treat the fever as you always would.

chickenyhead · 10/07/2021 19:51

How long after vaccination was that?

careerchangeperhaps · 10/07/2021 19:51

There's no evidence that Pfizer vaccine passes into breastmilk. It's just a coincidence:

If his fever has come down with Calpol he should be ok. Just offer extra feeds to keep him hydrated Thanks

MuslinsRLife · 10/07/2021 20:01

I had moderna & the next day my baby had an awful stomach bug for a week or so. Really bad nappies. It was a weird coincidence I think because I’ve had the second jab since & he was absolutely fine!

avocadotofu · 10/07/2021 20:24

I think it's likely to be a coincidence. My 2 year old didn't have any symptoms after both my Pfizer vaccines.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/07/2021 20:26

Correlation isn't causation.

Babies get many bugs. I think the average is about one a month in the first year.

After 2 days

OP posts:
Needapoodle · 10/07/2021 21:53

It's a total coincidence. Kids get mild illnesses all the time.

Babyiskickingmyribs · 10/07/2021 22:19

It doesn’t necessarily make any difference if it’s the vaccine causing the fever or a virus your baby has picked up. You treat it the same way -calpol and keep an eye on him incase that doesn’t control fever or he starts to get any other symptoms.

Kylieemilyj · 10/07/2021 22:22

I didnt have the pzifer I had the AZ, however the night of my jab, I had hot flushes, then would be freezing cold etc, my son stayed latched all night which made it 10x worse, only to wake up the next day to him having terrible croup :(
Im not sure if it’s linked to the Covid jab though as the second dose we were both absolutely fine. He gets recurrent croup several times a year but this time just seemed different (but it could have been becuase I was so poorly as well)

mumoflittleangel · 11/07/2021 22:14

His fever isn’t going away. I’m so worried 😭 he is okay calpol but not without it.

OP posts:
FTEngineerM · 11/07/2021 22:21

Has he had 12m mmr vaccine lately?

Babymamma192 · 11/07/2021 22:23

Have you tried Nurofen? Sometimes it's the only thing that works for my dds temperature. Everytime she gets poorly she has a really high temperature sometimes I have to alternate calpol and Nurofen every 4-6 hours.

If your worried phone 111 for advice.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/07/2021 01:03

Babies get fevers. What temperature is he?

Babyiskickingmyribs · 12/07/2021 08:43

If he’s has a fever that isn’t going on it’s own (even if calpol is controlling it) you could take him to see the gp. Even though it might be just a little viral bug that will go away in its own, it might be an ear infection or something else that needs treatment. The Dr will be able to check all the common possibilities.

mumoflittleangel · 13/07/2021 23:48

He is getting better now ❤️
