Well I guess the subject says it all but I'm struggling for ideas for dd 3's 2nd birthday party. I'll have it at home & probably invite about 6 friends but I think it would be good to have some theme - any ideas please??

DD1 will be 4 at the end of jan and i have only ever done parties at home for her freinds about 6.

I have just looked at partypieces web site and got her to choose whatever design she likes/into. When she was 2 it was nemo/fish so i got fishes designed plates cups ect and some fishes to hang from the ceiling.

They just played with her toys and everyone agreed that it was the best most relaxed pary of all of them (we have a birthday party nearly every weekend from the beginning of dec to the mid of feb) as the children just played and didn't get over excited.

I just did a buffet table so people could help themselves.

How about a good old fashioned birthday party?? All parents are banned and then you have 3 or 4 party games, then birthday tea and then 3 more party games and then the parents come and wait by the door until their child is delivered back to them?? Parental prescence changes the mood of the party apparently!!! I saw a book about this and had a flick through - it was how all our parties went and we all LOVED them and 'friends' in the village used to tell me that they were always nice to me near my birthday so that they would be invited! Very simple, cheap and good clean proper organised fun. The kids feel that it's definitely different that just a normal coming round to play. Works brilliantly for all ages up to end of primary school!

I can try and remember games if you want...
