Bleeding postpartum

I stopped bleeding around 3 weeks pp but the last few days I have been bleeding lightly, red blood. I am exclusively breastfeeding. I bf my eldest and didn’t have a period for 8 months. Could this possibly be my period already? I have my 6 week check next week so will ask them but worried I’ll get fobbed off.

Sorry just realised I’ve posted this in parenting and don’t know how to move the thread! Advice would still be welcome though. Sorry

Unfortunately it could be! It could also just be a random breakthrough bleed. Despite not having a period for many months, I’d have occasional red blood bleeding (maybe a quarter of a pad’s worth) for about 7 months after both my kids. Fun times.

With both of mine, I had a bit of bleeding again just around 6 weeks after it had otherwise stopped around 3-4 weeks. It wasn't a period. I never got my period back with dc1 before I went back on the pill at 5 months and with dc2, it came back on the dot at 12 weeks and every 28 days after even though I was ebf around the clock. Often you can get some extra bleeding when you've been on your feet more or pushing yourself more than usual.

It could be your period or breakthrough bleed. Ask at your check up. It isn't uncommon, I know that.
